Genital Rejuvenation

by Dr Vinod Vij, Plastic & Cosmetic Surgeon, Fortis Hospital, Mulund  gives you a lowdown on enhancing your genitals!

We’ve all heard about facial rejuvenation surgeries, tummy tucks and body contouring. But did you know that you can also have your genitals rejuvenated? Several women today opt for surgeries to enhance the appearance of their genitalia. Likewise, there are numerous ageing males who wish to keep their genitals looking like they did when they were in their 20s. There has been a 30% increase in people seeking such surgeries.

“I recently treated a 60yr old male patient, from Dubai, for a flaccid Penis. Along with medical treatment with drugs like Viagra, we decided to treat him with inflatable penile implant at our hospital. This was done by inserting artificial sacks inside the scrotum, which are connected by a tube to the penis. When these sacks are pressed, the saline rushes to the penis raising it using hydraulics. Once done, the sacks are rotated and the saline flows back into the sack, relaxing the penis”, says Dr Vinod Vij, Plastic & Cosmetic Surgeon, Fortis Hospital, Mulund.

Treatments are also available for younger men who approach us to enhance their penile size. We use procedures like ‘Suspensory Ligament Release’ which involves the penis to be moved forward from the pubic bone to increase length by a good couple of centimeters. There are ways to also increase the girth of the penis, by injecting fat into the organ. This fat is harvested from the tummy or thighs using a small needle.  It’s been witnessed that these procedures are conducted on men between 38-65 years.

Amongst Indian women, the prime cause of dissatisfaction with their genitalia, is pigmentation(skin darkening). Most females in younger age groups patients wish to improve skin tone and appearance of the vulva or vagina; undergo small procedures for the same. This may be done through a laser procedure or chemical peeling to remove pigmentation spots, making it even-toned and fairer. Women who have had multiple pregnancies face problems with the laxity(looseness) of the vagina. To fix that, we perform a Vaginoplasty that involves tightening the vaginal tissues by removing a cuff of Vaginal Mucosa. Latest trend is to use laser treatment for vaginal tightening. These procedures are common amongst age group ranging between 45-60 years. Younger women in their 30s come for reducing the size of the external lips of the vulva; this procedure is called as Labiaplasty and gives a cleaner and more delicate look to the private parts.
