The Inter College Annual Mega Media Festival :Ehsaasof Bharat’ at VIPS Spandan 2016

SpandanThe Inter College Annual Mega Media Festival- SPANDAN 2016- organized by Vivekananda School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies is on the horizon again. Commencing on the 25th of October 2016, the three-day festival will host a total of 19 events, competitive and non-competitive.

With an aim to promote and support the prestigious ‘Make in India’ campaign of Government of India, the theme of Spandan 2016 is ‘Back to the Roots’. The main highlight of the festival is ‘Ehsaas Bharat Ka’ which would include stalls of Indian cuisine, handicrafts, handlooms and a performance of Sikh martial art form ‘Gatka’. Spandan is a student platform to raise important issues of media, society and democracy, through events such as Media Panchayat, Debate, Stage Play amongst others.

Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Minister of State ,Culture and Tourism has been invited to inaugurate the festival.  Varun Singh Bhati, bronze medalist at 2016 Summer Paralympic will grace the inaugural ceremony along with Dr. S.C. Vats, Chairman VIPS; Mr. Krishan Agarwal, Vice Chairman, VIPS; Mr. Suneet Vats, Vice Chairman, VIPS. Prof. Dr. Charu Lata Singh, Dean VSJMC will deliver the opening address.

Media Panchayat on the topic ‘Is common man ready for a shift from traditional media to digital media’ will be held. The panelist for the same will be Milind Khandekar, Managing Editor ABP; Sanjay Mehra from ANI; Rifat Jawaid , founder , Janta Ka Reporter and Akash Soni, Anchor and Journalist  amongst others. Also this year Spandan will host the fourth edition of its Annual Media Exhibition- Newseum- on the theme ‘Investigative Journalism’ and the third edition of Cinephile, an International Film Festival of VSJMC, VIPS will also be organized which has a total of 45+ entries which include 11 international entries from Iran, UK, Spain, Canada, Sweden and Morocco.

Mahendra Jakhar, the screenplay writer of Manjhi- The Mountain Man will be taking a ‘screenplay writing workshop’ for the students.

Dr. Charu Lata Singh, Dean, VSJMC along with faculty member Ms. Divya Arora and Dr. Manoj Kumar Singh expressed satisfaction over the hard work put in by the students. It is the students who organize the festival, generate funds and execute it.
